Friends of the Environment is growing and we are looking for new team members to help accomplish our mission of preserving Abaco's environment through education, conservation, and research facilitation.

Position 1: Education Officer 

The Education Officer will primarily be responsible for implementing school-based environmental education programs and is expected to be a team player who will participate in other aspects of the organization. The Education Officer will work along with and report to FRIENDS’ Outreach Coordinator and Deputy Director. The position is based in Marsh Harbour, Abaco. A drivers license is required. Must be a strong swimmer. Bachelor’s degree preferred, along with demonstrated experience in the environmental sciences and education. Must be able to use computer software to develop presentations, use spreadsheets, and design program materials (experience with iOS systems a plus).

Duties include, but not limited to:

Curriculum development, lesson delivery

Coordinating and leading field trips, presentations, and tours

Teaching after-school clubs and summer camps

Promotion and marketing

Participation in events and fundraisers

Organize and maintain lab/program equipment

Maintain program records (participants, expenditures, etc).

Occasional after-hours or weekend commitments

Position 2: Campus Administrator

The Campus Administrator will primarily be responsible for management of campus facilities (including The Learning Centre and The Kenyon Centre) and facilitating smooth day to day operation of the office. The Campus Administrator is also expected to be a team player who will participate in other aspects of the organization. The Campus Administrator will provide administrative services for other staff and report directly to the Executive Director. The position is based in Marsh Harbour, Abaco. A drivers license is required and strong swimming skills highly favoured. Applicant should be proficient in Quickbooks software, Apple computers, and office and time management programs (e.g. Dropbox, graphic design, social media).

 

Duties include, but not limited to:

Office communications, point of contact.

Taking reservations, creating invoices, and collecting payment for services.

Coordinating and facilitating cleaning and maintenance on buildings, vehicles, and grounds.

Banking (deposits), bill paying, data entry and Quickbooks reconciliation.

Merchandise inventory and sales.

Office supply inventory and purchasing.

Participation in events and fundraising.

Marketing and community relations.

Campus tours.

Occasionally attend meetings, conferences, or assist with education programs.

Occasional after-hours or weekend commitments. ​
