We are pleased to announce Friends of the Environment is a 1% for the Planet nonprofit partner! This partnership is intended to advance our impact as well as involve more businesses and individuals in the environmental movement. As we recover from Hurricane Dorian, it has become even more important to broaden our reach and expand our capability to assist the Abaco community and environment.
1% for the Planet is a global organization that exists to ensure our planet and future generations thrive. They inspire businesses and individuals to support environmental nonprofits through membership and everyday actions. Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, 1% for the Planet makes environmental giving easy and effective through partnership advising, impact storytelling and third-party certification. In 2019 alone, their member network contributed 27.6 million to environmental non-profits! Today, 1% for the Planet’s global network consists of thousands of businesses, individuals and environmental nonprofits working toward a better future for all.
“The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems,” writes Yvon Chouinard, co-founder of 1% for the Planet.
