Friends of the Environment was established in 1988 to support conservation of Abaco’s natural resources. FRIENDS’ mission is to preserve the environment of Abaco, Bahamas through conservation, education, and research facilitation. The organization has built a strong education program that has reached over 20,000 students in the last 13 years, raising awareness and cultivating the next generation of Bahamian environmental ambassadors. The FRIENDS Campus, including offices, classroom, museum, and Kenyon Research Centre have become an important destination for research and education in Abaco. Sadly, the education centre, offices and museum were lost in Hurricane Dorian along with the majority of FRIENDS’ educational materials.  We invite you to join the staff and Board of FRIENDS in our determination to restore, rebuild, and adapt after Hurricane Dorian and maintain the organization’s position as a vital component of the revitalization of Abaco.
