The Sustainable Development Committee was formed to address a rising concern of rapid growth and un-sustainable development in Abaco and to help facilitate information sharing and public awareness. The committee has adopted the Bruntland Commissions’ definition of sustainable development: “Sustainable development meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
The Mission of the Committee is: To educate the people of Abaco to enable sustainable development and to encourage the enforcement and improvement of existing legislation and policies.
