FRIENDS’ environmental summer camps are held simultaneously in north, central and south Abaco as Moore’s Island. Approximately 200 children participate each year. Camp is offered free of charge so that all children can participate despite their family’s financial resources. The camp is divided into two separate two week sessions by age group, 7-9 year olds and 10-13 year olds. The camp is structured so that children spend one day in the classroom learning about the function of Abaco’s different ecosystems and then they are taken out into the environment to experience the previous day’s lesson first hand.
